I'll admit, even though I love all things beauty, it look me this long to get into foundations. Don't get me wrong, I've always liked the idea of foundation, but I never was able to find one that did exactly what all women want foundation to do: make our skin skin look like a more toned and consistent version of itself.
I experimented with liquids, powders and minerals and I was always disappointed. I either looked like I had stage make-up caked to my skin or I looked sick and pasty. So I abandoned foundation in favor of tinted moisturizers, which got the job done, but still had me wishing for
a bit more coverage.
A couple months ago, desperate for an even tone for my skin, I picked up the bottle of CoverGirl & Olay Tone Rehab. I haven't looked back since. This is a hit folks! I think it's the serum in the formula, but it smoothes on so easily and instantly blends into my skin. This product is the perfect hybrid of a tinted moisturizer and full coverage foundation. The product feels light and airy, but it does provide coverage, even under my eyes.
While I finally found my perfect foundation, there are two more products I can't ignore. For those days when I need an extra boost with my dark under eye area, I turn to Neutrogena 3 in 1 concealer for eyes. It has SPF and an eye cream built in, and works well for covering up blemishes as well.
We'll save the story about primers for another day, but until then, I like to use Revlon Photo Ready Perfecting Primer. Instead of put the product under my foundation, I will use this product in my t-zone to cover up any unwanted shine over my foundation. It gives a nice finish that is matte, but won't make you look dry, an issue I often have with powder.

I'd like to try new foundations but every time I do, my skin goes crazy and breaks out. I've been using Clinique City Base for years. It's the only thing that doesn't ruin my bipolar skin.
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem. My skin doesn't seem to react poorly to this one, which I really like!
Deletelike rachel my skin is really fussy about foundation. i actually really like what l'oreal true match looks like on my face, but after two days of wearing it i look like a pimply seventh grader. i absolutely swear by lancome teint idole 24H foundation ever since a clerk recommended it to me at sephora. it's like better skin in a bottle plus SPF 15. it's fairly expensive, but one bottle lasts for months and i think it's totally worth it because my main beef with drugstore foundations (and often drugstore cosmetics in general) is that they just don't have all day staying power. i've always been curious about the covergirl olay tone rehab (mainly because the dispenser is just so freaking cool looking). gonna have to check it out! i doubt i'll ever give up the teint idole, but i would like something a little bit more sheer for days at the beach this summer!

This stuff doesn't make my skin breakout! It's really light, which I like. You can even mix it with a little bit of moisturizer (I use Olay...sensing a theme?) to tint it out even more. It's definitely a great product that surprised me. And get this, the product stays swirled to the very end.
DeleteLet me know if you give it a try!
I don't wear make up on a daily basis, and when I do I very lightly apply some foundation but am never really sure. I am been on the search for something better.. was thinking about experimenting with a BB Creme.. will look into this one too.. thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi Hena! Honestly, I've tried BB Cremes before and all the ones I've tried just seem like tinted moisturizers to me, which is fine if that's what you're looking for. This one I really love. It doesn't feel like a foundation, which is important to me. You can even make it lighter with a tiny dab of moisturizer.
