Natural Beauty- On Knowing Yourself

My good friend and health and natural beauty contributor, Olivia, shares her experience

with a juice cleanse.

The juice cleanse is over! We made it a total of two days before a very malnourished and

exhausted Olivia nearly collapsed in the middle of her job. Whoo boy.

At first I was feeling very hard on myself. I had read so many success stories and I wanted

to be one of them. I wanted to show the readers of this blog that it is possible for anyone to

do these things, but what I learned is that, in reality, it isn’t.

Everyone is piped a little bit differently. What may work for some people, can be completely

dangerous for others. You have to learn how to listen to your body and allow it to point you

in the direction you need to go.

On the second day of this juice cleanse, I had made it past the cravings. I had popped the

giant cartoon thought bubble filled with slices of pizza and veggie tacos. My mind was

on board with the entire idea of this week-long juice cleanse. It was my body that I hadn’t

considered. I was physically exhausted, my muscles trembled, and my eyes wouldn’t focus.

“I’m just hungry,” I’d think. Then ignore the symptoms and go back to my hustley and

bustley day. Never ignore these things. They are important. Your body isn’t going to tap you

on the shoulder and politely inform you that you will be passing out in the next few minutes.

These are the signs.

So after a mildly horrifying spell in the middle of Starbucks, I finally got the picture. I slowly

reintegrated solid foods, one meal a day, and my body felt good as new! The juice was still

drunk and the body was still clean, so I racked it up as win and forgave myself for being

human.

Never feel bad for being human. It’s how they getcha. Feel strong and healthy and proud of

each and every minute!

Also, look at all those veggies that are now in my body! Juice is MAD crazy.

Later, alligators. Olivia.

  1. I don't think I could ever do a juice cleanse. When I'm hungry, I pass out. Not pretty.

    1. I'm the same way. Juice with a meal is good, but I need solid foods!

  2. I just ordered a juicer yesterday and am beyond excited! I can't wait to try the endless juice recipes floating around the web. If you have a favorite I'm open to all suggestions!

    1. I don't usually use a juicer, I use a blender to make smoothies, but my favorite is: Pineapple,Mango,Strawberry, Orange and carrot. Add flax seed or golgi berries for a good boost!
